Highway 62 Corridor Project
Highway 62 corridor construction map
The 2009 Jobs and Transportation Act provides $100 million for the next phase of the Highway 62 Expressway.
It gives the green light to complete design and a 2013 target to begin construction on this phase of a multi-modal transportation solution between Medford and White City.
Fern Valley Interchange Project

Crossing Diamond
Fern Valley Interchange (Phoenix)

The Fern Valley Interchange, located at Interstate 5 exit 24, is slated for construction in 2013. The interchange area, south of Medford, experiences traffic congestion throughout the day, especially during the morning and afternoon commute. New and proposed development on the east side of I-5, as well as development growth within the Rogue Valley, are choking the interchange's capacity and causing safety concerns.
The proposed changes include rebuilding the interchange bridge directly to the north with a Diverging or Crossing Diamond Interchange similar to what is currently in use at several Missouri interchanges. The improvements will also build a new Bear Creek bridge on Fern Valley Road, which is currently load limited. The new bridge, and roadways will be wide enough to accommodate bicycles and pedestrians.
